Abstract

The Beagleboard and Raspberry Pi are examples of ARM based boards that provide processing power comparable to PC's in a compact, low-cost, low-power footprint. While targeted at the educational/hobbyist market, these boards  also open up opportunities for improvement and innovation in various product areas. For example, image and signal processing or pattern recognition capabilities and other high-level analysis can be implemented in areas where it was previously infeasible.

This talk will provide a brief overiew of ARM processors for the embedded and handheld computing markets, demonstrate some boards including the Beagle and  Raspberry, and hopefully prompt discussion and inspire consideration of novel applications.
